Making and Using Actions
In this tutorial you will learn how to make and use custom actions.
For the purpose of demonstration, I will be showing you how to add a colorizing action. Keep in mind you can add an action for almost any PhotoShop function.
1. Make a new doccument, size doesn't matter. Or open an image.
a. Click the Actions tab, mine is next to the History tab. If you do not see your Actions tab, click Window > Actions on the top menu.
Screen Shot b. Click the New Action button at the bottom of the Actions panel.
Screen Shot c. Title your new action, I named mine Red.
d. Select a Set for it to go under, I put mine under a custom Colorize set. You can save yours to the default set.
e. Select a Function Key. I chose CMD + F2 (on Windows it might be Control instead of Command).
Screen Shot f. Click Record.
2. Recording your action.
a. You know you are recording if the Record button at the bottom of the Actions panel is red and depressed.

b. Image > Adjustments > Hue/Saturation - Check the Colorize box and set the different properties.
Screen Shot c. File > Save
d. Close the doccument window. (This step is optional).
e. Click the Stop button at the bottom of the Actions panel.

3. Function Keys and the Play button.
a. Your Actions panel should now look something like this.
Screen Shot b. Open your next doccument.
c. Select your action from the list.
d. Click the Play button or press your Function Keys. This will repeat the action you recorded in the previous steps.

Finished! Thats it, you're done.
You now have a new custom action saved in your panel. You can access this action whenever you want and use it on any image.
