[h1]Scan Lines[/h1]
Here is an example of what we will be making.


I chose a random image I found in a yahoo.com search. Click here for the original image.

1. Open your image.

2. Make a new layer.
 a. Edit > Fill 100% White (FFFFFF).

 b. Place the layer on top of the other. Title it Scan Lines.

3. Make a new doccument, 3x3 pixels with a White (FFFFFF) background.
 a. Select the pencil tool, set it to 1 pixel.
 b. Zoom in to 1600%.
 c. Set your forground color to Black (000000)
 d. Draw a straight horizontal line in the center of the canvas.

 e. Save as lines.psd.

4. Back to your image.
 a. Select the Scan Lines layer.
 b. Filter > Texture > Texturizer > Load Texture > lines.psd

 c. Use the default settings.
 
5. Open the blending options for the Scan Lines layer.
 a. Set it to Multiply.

6. File > Save

Finished!

NOTE: If you want the lines to be more defined, add more Relief when texturing the Scan Lines layer.

Are they? lol. I never knew people actually needed tutorials for this kind of thing. I've seen the effect and it took me a whole 3 seconds to figure out how to do it.

Create a new document 1(width) x 3(hieght) and then draw a single pixel at the bottom of the document.

Edit > Define Pattern

Save the pattern as "Scanline"

Whenever you want to use the scanlines in a document, press shift+5 to open the fill menu, choose scanline, turn the transparency to about 30, and there you are.

thats what i usually do.  yet you can't have enough ways to make a scanline now can u?

can you make an idividual scan line using this tut and animate it so it goes up and down.

To do that fury, just either make a new layer with a pixel row selected and filled with about 30-40 transparency, then do your animation, don't need to define a pattern for a single line...hope this helps.

I was useing this tutorial, and I realized when I was done that the pic u used was green to start, cuz I used my own image.  Is there a way to use this technique to make it like that, so it looks like the nightvision?

Just CTRL+K and change the hue settings and stuff. Or get a brush, set it to Color and select green and brush over.
