[h1]Aurora Borealis[/h1]Here is an example of what we will be making.

1. Open your landscape picture.
a. Make a new layer, title it Lights 1.
b. Select the brush tool. I used a soft 65 pixel brush and
00AEA8 as the color.
c. Click the brushes tab above the pallets. Use the following settings:
Screen Shot d. Set the brush opacity to 40% and brush high flowing arcs. Make three to four overlapping strokes.
Screen Shot2. Smudging and bluring.
a. Select the Smudge tool and use the following settings:

b. Begin to smudge from the bottom up, click right under the bottom of the paint. Hold shift and click directly above it. Vary the lengths by clicking higher or lower. To lengthen a specific smudge even further, click the middle of the spike and shift+click even higher above it. Try to keep it on the canvas.
Screen Shot c. Filter > Blur > Motion Blur - The distance may vary depending on your canvas size.
Screen Shot d. Repeat step 2c.
3. Duping and blending options.
a. Open the blending options for the Lights 1 layer. Set it to Vivid light.
Screen Shot b. Duplicate the Lights 1 layer and title the new layer Lights 2.
c. Select the Lights 2 layer, Image > Adjustments > Hue/Saturation + Colorize
Screen Shot d. Open the blending options for the Lights 2 layer. Set it to Overlay.
Screen Shot e. Move the Lights 2 layer slightly lower than the Lights 1 layer.
Screen Shot f. Put the Lights 2 layer under the Lights 1 layer on the layer pallet.
Screen Shot4. Perspective.
a. Link the Lights 1 and Lights 2 layers.
b. Edit > Transform > Perspective - Drag the top right corner down towards the bottom right.
